Local councils can help with the cost of care through a system known as Direct Payments.
Direct payments are useful as;
· You have control to organise your support and care services
· You can employ your staff
· You make choices and have more flexibility as to when and how long you want
· You will have support throughout
In order to receive direct payments;
· You will need to be 16 years and older
· You have capacity to consent to arranging your own care services and wish to receive direct payments
· If you do not have capacity to make informed decisions, you could have someone authorised to manage your direct payment on your behalf.
Yes. Direct payments are particularly useful for those individuals who prefer to make their own arrangements for care services. You may be awarded part or the full amount to pay for the cost of your care.
Direct payments are considered as financial capital income and will not affect your existing benefits.
If you have enquiries, let me know how I can help.
